The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Stanley M. Fleener, United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot of a C-123 aircraft, at Kam Duc Airfield, Republic of Vietnam, on 12 August 1970. On that date, Captain Fleener was flying a combat re-supply mission into the base when the airfield received a ground attack. Captain Fleener’s precise execution of duties was responsible for successful mission accomplishment without damage to his aircraft or injury to his crew. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Fleener reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
