    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Thomas E. Anderson (ASN: RA-19324763), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Headquarters Company, 2d Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy in Korea. On 3 September 1950, when the personnel of the battalion command post near Chirwon, Korea, were directed to organize and defend a key terrain feature in order to cover the displacement of the battalion, Private First Class Anderson braved the intense enemy fire to deliver withering fire at the advancing enemy forces. By his exemplary courage and outstanding devotion to duty, Private First Class Anderson was instrumental in delaying the attackers until occupation of the hill could be accomplished. His conspicuous bravery and resolute actions are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service.
