The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Sous-Lieutenant Evelyne Clopet, Foreign, for gallantry in action from 7 July 1944 to 10 August 1944. Sous-Lieutenant Clopet was parachuted into France in civilian clothes as a radio operator with an intelligence team. She travelled by her own means and without accompaniment in a strictly controlled enemy territory to join her teammate at Château L’Hermitage. When unfortunate circumstances, together with the rapid allied advance, prevented them from reaching Angers, the designated point for their work, they attempted to reach Paris and thus remain behind the enemy liens to fulfill their mission. She was arrested and executed with four other agents at Vendome. Sous-Lieutenant Clopet lost her life because of her great devotion to duty .
