(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Specialist Fourth Class James Alfred Luckey (ASN: 53580988), United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for gallantry in action on 25 January 1969, while serving as a Medical Aidman with the 5th Battalion, 60th Infantry, 9th Infantry Division, in the Republic of Vietnam. Specialist Fourth Class Luckey threw himself between the body of his unit commander and enemy gunfire, and was instantly killed. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
