(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: First Lieutenant (Coast Artillery Corps) Earle L. Carran, United States Army, was awarded the Soldier’s Medal for heroism involving voluntary risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy, while serving with the FIRST Ranger Infantry Battalion. Lieutenant Carran rescued an enlisted man from drowning in Scotland, on 6 July 1942. The heroism displayed by First Lieutenant Carran on this occasion reflects great credit upon himself and the military service.
