The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Brigadier General Alexander Stewart Webb, United States Army, for distinguished personal gallantry on 3 July 1863, while serving with U.S. Volunteers, in action at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, in leading his men forward at a critical period in the contest.
