(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major Louis B. Besbeck (0-262526), United States Army, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as Executive Officer, 1st Battalion, 45th Infantry Regiment, Philippine Scouts, in action at Bataan, Philippine Islands, in 1942. Inspecting front-line positions, without regard for his own safety, Major Besbeck assumed the initiative to readjust personnel and weapons, contributing materially to the hard-fought engagement on Quinauan Point. Major Besbeck’s timely and gallant actions and selfless devotion to duty, without regard for his own safety, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
