    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Solomon J. Bayoneta, Philippine Army, for gallantry in action against an armed enemy at Corregidor, Philippine Islands, on 29 December 1941. Technical Sergeant Bayoneta was wounded while shielding General Douglas MacArthur when a bomb exploded nearby during the siege of the small fortress island at the entrance of Manila Bay. His actions reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service.
