The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Warren R. Allen (ASN: RA-13351982), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company B, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 2 June 1951, in the vicinity of Inje, Korea. On this date Company B was moving through friendly units to continue the attack of the enemy forces occupying Hill 451. During this movement an estimated battalion of fanatical enemy forces launched a counterattack and gained control of the high ground which commanded the positions of friendly forces. Company B was ordered to repulse the enemy attack and regain the high ground. Despite the intense enemy fire, Private Allen moved forward aggressively. When the fire became so devastating that the advance was slowed, Private Allen without hesitation rushed to the ridge line of the hill and began to pour deadly and accurate fire into the enemy, inflicting numerous casualties. Even though several enemy machine guns were set up to sweep the ridge of the hill from which he was firing, he continued to inflict heavy casualties upon the enemy, thus permitting his platoon to advance and seize its objective. Private Allen refused to leave his exposed position and continued to cause destruction upon the enemy until he fell mortally wounded. The selfless devotion to duty and sustained courage of Private Allen, reflect great credit upon himself and uphold the highest traditions of the Military Service of the United States.
