    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Leslie C. Allen, Australian Army, for gallantry in action while serving with the 2/5th Battalion, Australian Army, in action against the enemy on 30 July 1943, at Mount Tambu, New Guinea. On that date, more than 50 United States Soldiers had been wounded and two medics had been killed trying to rescue them. Corporal Allen rescued 12 American soldiers, carrying them down the slope of Mount Tambu to safety where they could be treated for their wounds.
