The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain Antonio Alejandre, Jr., Philippine Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with Headquarters, 11th Infantry Regiment, 11th Division, Philippine Army, on Bataan, Philippine Islands, from 26 January to 17 February 1942. As a Battalion Commander with the 11th Infantry Regiment, he led his men in a series of attacks against well-fortified positions of the Japanese troops behind the main line of resistance, resulting in the complete annihilation of the enemy and capture of his positions. Captain Alejandre’s gallantry and bravery in action contributed greatly to the heroic defense of Bataan.
