Headquarters, 2d Infantry Division, General Orders No. 101 (June 15, 1951)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Master Sergeant Felix R. Acosta (ASN: RA-19203586), United States Army, for gallantry in action as a member of Company G, 38th Infantry Regiment, 2d Infantry Division, in action against an armed enemy on 27 November 1950 in the vicinity of Unbong-dong, Korea. The platoon led by Sergeant Acosta was in position on high ground. During the night the units on the flanks were overrun by a numerically superior enemy force and Sergeant Acosta’s platoon was surrounded. Unhesitatingly and with utter disregard for the heavy enemy fire that was falling in the area, Sergeant Acosta grimly led his men in an assault, determined to fight his way out of the entrapment. As a result of his skillful direction, the platoon broke through the trap. He then moved to the rear of his troops, where he engaged the enemy in a delaying action, inflicting heavy casualties upon them with accurate and steady fire. After the successful breakthrough, he returned into the zone of fire to help the wounded to safety. The gallantry and inspiring leadership displayed by Sergeant Acosta reflect the highest credit upon himself are in keeping with the fine traditions of the military service.
