Numa Watson attended Cornell University for one year before entering the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he graduated with the Class of 1922. He retired in 1956 as a U.S. Army Major General. His only son by the same name, also a West Point graduate (1954), was Killed in Action in the Korean War.
