(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Major General Arthur Gilbert Trudeau (ASN: 0-15513), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving while serving as Commanding General of the 7th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Korea, in July 1953. During the Battle of Pork Chop Hill, the enemy launched an all-out attack on the Division outpost position located some 300 yards in front of the main line of resistance. Chinese infantrymen had succeeded in gaining a foothold. Feeling that he could not gain adequate knowledge of the situation from second-hand reports, Major General Trudeau traded his star-studded helmet for that worn by his driver, and led the regimental commander and counterattacking battalion’s reconnaissance parties to the contested post. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major General Trudeau, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
