(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Major (Infantry) Richard E. Laritz, United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving in the Republic of Vietnam. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major Laritz, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Major (Infantry) Richard E. Laritz, United States Army, for gallantry and intrepidity in action in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force in Southeast Asia on 15 December 1973. Major Laritz’s personal bravery and devotion to duty were in keeping with highest traditions of the military service.
