Guy Henry’s mother was the granddaughter of Vice President Daniel D. Tompkins and Secretary of the Navy and Supreme Court Justice Smith Thompson. He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1898 and subsequently retired in 1939 as a U.S. Army Major General. His father, an Academy graduate Class of 1861, earned the Medal of Honor in the Civil War.
