Millard Harmon graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1912. He was missing in action late in World War II when his staff airplane went missing at sea on February 26, 1945, en route to Hickam Field.

His leadership, tireless devotion to duty and wholehearted cooperation set an inspiring example to all the forces in the South Pacific Area and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
