Charles Satterlee was commissioned through the School of Instruction of the Revenue Cutter Service in 1898. He retired as a U.S. Coast Guard Captain.

Archibald Scales graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1887. He retired as a U.S. Navy Rear Admiral.
