(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Major (Field Artillery) Stanley Clippinger Scott (ASN: 0-21909), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Executive Officer of the 17th Field Artillery Observation Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Group, FIFTH U.S. Army Corps, in action against the enemy in Normandy, France, in 1944. Major Scott, with tireless energy and total disregard for his own safety, reconnoitered the entire front of the FIFTH Army Corps, usually within a few hundred yards of the enemy infantry. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Major Scott, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
