No. 43, W.D., 1918), First Sergeant Henry Hoover (ASN: 1462038), United States Army, is cited by the Commanding General, American Expeditionary Forces, for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. First Sergeant Hoover distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company L, 140th Infantry Regiment, 35th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Exermont, France, 28 September 1918, in going to the rescue of the wounded under heavy enemy fire.
