The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Sergeant Emanuel Stance, United States Army, for gallantry on scout after Indians on 20 May 1870, while serving with Company F, 9th U.S. Cavalry, in action at Kickapoo Springs, Texas.
