    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Staff Sergeant Bobby Dees (ASN: 6392675), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa, during the period from January to May 1943. During an advance on enemy positions, Sergeant Dees exposed himself to enemy fire and rendered medical Assistance to the seriously wounded until he was severely wounded by an exploding shell. As a result of his unselfish conduct, Sergeant Dees has been reported missing in action. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
