Carpino (ASN: 6688791), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Service Company, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in Normandy, France, on 6 June 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

Carpino (ASN: 6688791), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company I, 3d Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in North Africa, during the period from January to April 1943. While moving a command post forward, Sergeant Carpino, voluntarily and at great risk to his life, crossed terrain constantly swept by intense enemy fire to organize and lead to safety members of his unit when they had been scattered during an engagement with the enemy. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
