Citation Needed – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes Pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant Charles M. Strange, United States Army, for gallantry in action against the enemy while serving with the 160th Infantry Regiment, 27th Infantry Division, in action against the enemy at Okinawa Shima, Nansei Shoto, on 19 April 1945. When his company was faced with a hazardous mission of securing a strongly held Japanese position, Sergeant Strange volunteered as a member of the combat patrol assigned to the task. Later, when the patrol was pinned down by superior enemy fire, he advanced well ahead of his comrades. (Remainder of Citation Missing.)
