The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Staff Sergeant Henry Morin (ASN: 6135502), United States Army, for heroism at the risk of life not involving conflict with an armed enemy while serving with Headquarters Battery, 33d Field Artillery Battalion, 1st Infantry Division, in action in North Africa and Sicily during the period from March through August 1943. When a strong undertow caught an officer swimming in the Mediterranean and carried him out to sea, Sergeant Morin, with utter disregard for his own safety, swam to his assistance and enabled the officer to reach shore safely. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by Staff Sergeant Morin reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
