The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant (MC) Charles G. Robinson, Jr., United States Navy, for gallantry in action on November 4, 1942, while serving as Battalion Surgeon with the Second Marine Raider Battalion at Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands from 4 November 1942 to 4 December 1942. Lieutenant Robinson repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire rendering first aid to the wounded. During the latter part of operations in one area, he became ill from the rigors of the jungle, but continued to accompany the battalion. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
