(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Hospitalman Apprentice First Class William Joseph Riordan (NSN: 7265433), United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star (Posthumously) for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving as a Medical Corpsman with the FOURTH Marine Division from 15 June to 4 July 1944, at Saipan. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
