The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Captain Arthur Ferdinand Johnson (NSN: 0-81315), United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States from July 1965 to July 1968 while assigned to the faculty, Seminar School, Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Through his outstanding ability to communicate his broad knowledge of world, national, and military affairs, Captain Johnson contributed significantly to the achievement of a wider understanding of the security problems with which our nation is faced today. His sound professional knowledge, personal dynamism, and efficiency in organizing and directing National Security Seminars contributed immeasurably to the accomplishment of the mission of the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. Captain Johnson’s singularly outstanding achievements and inspiring performance climax a long and distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
