(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Seaman Second Class Woodrow W. Harrison, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star (Army Award) for gallant and intrepid conduct as a member of the Armed Guard aboard the U.S.A.T. MERIMACK, on the occasion of the torpedoing of that vessel by an enemy submarine in the Caribbean waters, on 9 June 1942. Seaman Second Class Harrison’s gallant actions, without regard for his own safety, were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
