(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Ensign John Francis Davis, United States Naval Reserve, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary heroism while participating in aerial flight, while serving as Pilot of an airplane in Patrol Squadron ONE HUNDRED ONE (VP-101), Patrol Wing TEN (Patwing-10), during a reconnaissance flight on January 17, 1942. Ensign Davis skillfully handled his bomber, enabling his crew to shoot down an attacking fighter, and piloted his airplane in an efficient manner which saved it from a Japanese fighter.
