Jerry Schuller was one of three airmen and two U.S. Army soldiers sent to Indochina during the siege of Dien Bien Phu to help service U.S. aircraft being flown by the French. All five men were captured and held with French Prisoners of War until their release on August 31, 1954. Although held in Vietnam, they are not numbered among the Vietnam War Prisoners of War, and are generally listed with the Cold War incidents.
