The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class David C. Croasmun (ASN: 33707481), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 253d Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 8 April 1945, in the vicinity of Kressbach, Germany. After enemy fire had forced his company to take cover in a woods, Private First Class Croasmun went to the aid of a wounded soldier who lay in an exposed position. With little regard for his own safety he crawled into the open under enemy fire and carried the wounded man to a place of cover and administered first aid. Private First Class Croasmun’s gallantry and devotion to duty reflect high credit upon himself and upon the Armed Forces of the United States.
