The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Charles M. Stoker (ASN: 37496243), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 253d Infantry Regiment, 63d Infantry Division, in action on 8 April 1945, in the vicinity of Kressbach, Germany. When the platoon of Company C to which Private First Class Stocker was attached as a Medical Aidman was pinned down by enemy machine gun fire, several men were wounded. Private First Class Stoker immediately rushed forward through the enemy machine gun fire, administered first aid to the men, and helped to evacuate them. The magnificent courage and outstanding gallantry under fire of Private First Class Stoker reflect the highest credit upon himself and are in keeping with the finest traditions of the Armed Forces of the United States.
