    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal to Staff Sergeant Ricky L. Jimenez, United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious service from 19 December 2007 to 28 December 2008 while deployed in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM as a Company Mentor, 1st Kandak, 2d Brigade, 205th Corps Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan. Staff Sergeant Jimenez’ calm demeanor and decisive actions in combat and unparallel tactical skill and leadership as a teacher, mentor and advisor to the Afghan National Army instilled the finest traditions and values of military service. His performance of duty in a combat zone reflects great credit upon himself, the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan, the United States Central Command and the United States Army.

Jimenez, United States Army, for gallantry and exceptionally valorous actions during combat operations on 11 March 2008 in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM while serving as Company Mentor, 1st Kandak, 2d Brigade, 205th Corps Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan. While conducting combat operations in Mizan District, Zabul Province, he dismounted and led an assault with inferior numerical forces of a deliberate enemy ambush position, resulting in the retreat and destruction of enemy forces. His performance in a combat zone reflects great credit upon himself, the Combined Security Transition Command – Afghanistan, the United States Central Command and the United States Army.
