George Taylor was commissioned a second lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve through the Health Professions Scholarship Program in 1975. Following his graduation from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and subsequent internship in Greenville, South Carolina, he entered active duty in 1979. From 2002 to 2006 he served as the 18th Surgeon General of the Air Force, and he retired in 2006 as a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General.
