The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Revis C. Beach (MCSN: 841304), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as a Squad Leader of Company E, Second Battalion, Twenty-Fourth Marines, FOURTH Marine Division in action against enemy Japanese forces on Saipan, Mariana Islands, from 15 June to 9 July 1944. When his company was pinned down by hostile fire, Corporal Beach observed that an enemy machine gun squad had worked around to the left of the company and prevented the company from maneuvering into position from which fire could be returned on the Japanese position. Obtaining demolitions, he courageously moved across an open ridge swept by heavy enemy machine gun and mortar fire and succeeded in destroying the hostile machine gun emplacement. By his bravery, initiative and devotion to duty, Corporal Beach upheld the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
