(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Aviation Support Equipment Technician Third Class Edgar Ardon, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism at the risk of life while saving the life of a fellow Sailor involved in a motorcycle accident at the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel in Norfolk, Virginia on 22 March 2008. Petty Officer Ardon and a fellow sailor saw the victim floating in the water and stripped to their undergarments and unhesitantly plunged into the 52-degree water, swam about 25 yards in the morning darkness, and retrieved the injured man who was unconscious and drowning. His efforts undoubtedly saved the man’s life.
