Hubble, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism at the risk of life while serving with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TWO, on 9 November 2007. Petty Officer Hubble launched to conduct a six-and-a-half night contact search and rescue exercise. While returning his wingman experienced a controllable failure and ditched in the sea. Petty Officer Hubble immediately donned his rescue gear and prepared for water entry. Without hesitation he entered the low-light, non-moon, open ocean to rescue seven survivors. He remained in 63-degree waters for 45 minutes until all seven survivors were safely hoisted aboard the rescue helicopter.
