The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Sergeant James D. Duncan (ASN: 34710095), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters Company, 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, in action in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany during the period 28 July 1944 to 3 April 1945. He was constantly well out in front of all friendly troops as car commander of a point vehicle leading his combat team.
