By direction of the President, under the provisions of the act of Congress approved July 9, 1918 (Bul. No. 43, W.D., 1918), Sergeant Frank A. Sorenson (ASN: 283995), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Sergeant Sorenson distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company E, 128th Infantry Regiment, 32d Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Juvigny, France, 1 September 1918. When his company commander had been rendered unconscious by the explosion of a shell, Sergeant Sorenson, although exhausted himself, voluntarily remained in a shell hole with him until he was in such condition as to be conducted by him to a first aid station.
