No. 43, W.D., 1918), Stable Sergeant Elmer Schlegelmilch (ASN: 1257712), United States Army, is cited for gallantry in action and a silver star may be placed upon the ribbon of the Victory Medals awarded him. Stable Sergeant Schlegelmilch distinguished himself by gallantry in action while serving with Company B, 109th Machine-Gun Battalion, 28th Division, American Expeditionary Forces, in action near Villette, Aisne, France, 6 September 1918, while directing a wagon load of machine gun ammunition forward, during heavy enemy bombardment.
