His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Captain (Infantry) Robert B. Pridgen (ASN: 20453434), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Company L, 3d Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment, 3d Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces in action at Raddon, France, on 17 September 1944. Running up and down his company area, he had his radio shot out and faced the almost hopeless dilemma of keeping his outnumbered element from annihilation. At point-blank range he killed a German officer and six enlisted men. Captain Pridgen’s outstanding leadership, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 3d Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
