(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Thomas Gilbert McClelland, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving as a Fighter Pilot and Leader of a group of Fighter Planes in Fighting Squadron FIVE (VF-5), embarked in U.S.S. YORKTOWN (CV-10), during World War II. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
