    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Commander Henry D. Wolleson, United States Navy, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States during World War II. Commander Wolleson’s judicious planning and excellent counsel as Chief Staff Officer and Operations Officer for Commander, Transports, during the occupation of Attu and Kiska Islands, Territory of Alaska, he contributed materially to the success of our forces.
