(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Seaman First Class Harry M Church, United States Coast Guard, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism while serving as volunteer coxswain of a boat engaged in rescue operations during a fire in Pearl Harbor , Territory of Hawaii, on 21 May 1944. Under conditions of great personal danger from fire and explosions, he assisted in rescuing 42 survivors, some of whom were injured and exhausted from the water and from burning ships.
