    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Aviation Radioman Third Class Harry E. Blowey (NSN: 3427497), United States Naval Reserve, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in military operations against the enemy in the Philippine and Volcano Islands from 18 December 1944 to 21 February 1945. Aviation Radioman Third Class Blowey completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Aviation Radioman Third Class Harry E. Blowey (NSN: 3427497), United States Naval Reserve, for heroism during the sinking of the U.S.S. BISMARK SEA (CVE-95) on 21 February 1945. He administered first aid to a severely wounded man on the flight deck despite nearby explosions. After abandoning ship, although his lifebelt did not work he went to the aid of another man and supported him until rescued. His conduct was in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
