The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant, Junior Grade Adrian Stanley Bazzell (NSN: 0-314784), United States Navy, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as pilot of a Navy carrier-based Fighter Plane when, on 6 April 1945, he and three squadron mates intercepted a group of enemy aircraft which were about to attack our ships in the vicinity of Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands. After a furious aerial battle, he destroyed one of the enemy planes in a daringly aggressive attack. His courage and skill contributed greatly to completely wiping out the enemy and saving our ships from possible serious damage or loss. At all times his actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
