    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Omer R. Badger (NSN: 0-130111), United States Navy, for heroism and extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight. On 30 January 1945, serving as Commander of a Catalina patrol bomber aircraft, Lieutenant Badger carried out an extremely hazardous open sea landing at Nasanga River on the Eastern Coast of Luzon, to effect the evacuation of two critically wounded pilots. He also made three landings at sea in Southern Philippine waters to evacuate seven American Army and Navy personnel from enemy occupied territory. In one landing he rescued two members of the crew of another aircraft who were in imminent danger of capture by an enemy patrol. His courage, skill and coolness was in accordance with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Lieutenant Omer R. Badger (NSN: 0-130111), United States Navy, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight in the Pacific Area from 8 October to 7 November 1943. Lieutenant Badger completed twenty flights in a combat area where enemy anti-aircraft fire was expected to be effective or where enemy aircraft patrols usually occurred. His conduct throughout has distinguished him among those performing duties of the same character.
