    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Warrant Officer James K. Wilson, United States Army, for heroism, not involving actual conflict with an enemy, displayed in saving the life of a boy from drowning in Coopers Lake near Fort McPherson, Georgia on 12 August 1926. Warrant Officer Wilson, a scoutmaster of Troop No. 1, Boy Scouts of America, at Fort McPherson, Georgia, upon hearing the cries of several of the boys that Scout Clyde Quigley was in distress, ran to the lake and without removing his clothing jumped in and with much difficulty succeeded in bring the drowning boy safely to shore.
