James Davis graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland, Class of 1958. Accepting his commission in the Air Force, he flew 100 combat missions with the 13th Tactical Fighter Squadron during the Vietnam War. He retired in 1993 as a U.S. Air Force 4-Star General.
